I loved this story about a couple who turned a sad event into something positive. Bob and Wilma McGuire lost a granddaughter, and after taking time to grieve, decided to volunteer at the Middletown Regional Hospital. In doing so, they not only did a great job for the hospital, they met other people and became friends with them.
In the past six years alone, they have 2,400 combined volunteer hours, which the Middletown Journal is valuing at $45,600. A lot of money, especially in this economy. But Wilma said, "We are getting paid back in friendship." So true. There's no price on that.
Volunteering is a great way to meet friends. If you've been thinking about it, here are some volunteer activities that help you to meet new people easily.
