What is it about the Internet that makes people behave so badly? I've found that some folks "tell off" another person online (in a forum, on Facebook, through email) and say much worse things than if they were face-to-face with that individual. Some folks are consistently snarky, others are just plain aggressive, calling out people by name or having the equivalent of an online temper tantrum.
I'm always surprised by people who go off on a friend online and then act shocked when it negatively affects their friendship. Just think about going off on a rant when you're face-to-face with a friend. How would your friend feel? Would they trust you to keep your friendship safe after that?
So often online rants cause big problems, but if a proper apology doesn't follow, it can change or even end a friendship. It's like people hide behind the "comfort" of their keyboard both to go off on someone, and then to pretend later that it wasn't as bad as it seemed.FreeDigitalPhotos.net
