Sometimes I'll find a quote that probably isn't meant to be about friends, but that's what it reminds me of nonetheless. This is a perfect example:
If only we'd stop trying to be happy we could have a pretty good time.
~ Edith Wharton
The quotes speaks to trying so hard to be happy... be perfect. When I hear this, I think of the way we are with our friendships sometimes. We want so badly for them to be good, for us to have fun, and when our time with friends falls short of that, we may decide that certain friends aren't right for us. But that isn't true.
Friendship is made up of moments, and sometimes they are hilarious and fun and sometimes they are serious and thought provoking. Let's do our best to appreciate them as they are, without trying to change them. See what happens when we mentally avoid judgment and just relax into the relationships we have with our friends.
