I caught this fabulous slideshow of celebrity double daters (some of which were very surprising) and it made me wonder once again about couples friends. It's so hard to find another couple that you click with, isn't it? If one of you has a disagreement with another one, the whole balance can be thrown off. It really takes a lot to make double dates, or couples friendships, work for the long haul.
Another thing that complicates these types of friendships is where you are in your life. For example, I noticed that Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were on the celebrity double date list, and this made sense for a lot of reasons. Sure, they've been friends since they were kids, but their lives have also paralleled each others in many ways. They both got married and had kids, and when you do that at the same time you tend to stay connected more than if your lives changed in different directions.
