Is it just me, or is the ability to give a good and proper apology a lost art?
I've received lots of bad apologies. My favorite one (which I've received from more than one person!) is: "How many times do you want me to apologize?" when in fact they've never apologized. They've never said anything close to "I am sorry" and yet seemed irritated that I'm holding them accountable for behaving like a buffoon.
It makes me shake my head sometimes.
Sometimes people gloss over apologizes, and then bring up the event again as if things didn't really happen the way they did. This is another problem. You can't change what you did just by pretending you didn't do it. You have to acknowledge what you did so you and your friend can move on from the situation.
