Next week is better conversation week (November 19-25th), which calls attention to the fact that we basically know how to talk but not listen. Have you ever been somewhere and overheard a conversation that just made you cringe because one person kept saying "No wait, let me explain," or "But that's not what I'm saying," or "What I'm trying to say is..."
It's exhausting. I'm not sure what has happened to all of us. Do we believe that because someone else is talking we might be left out? That no one will get to hear our opinions? Gasp!
You know what? Sometimes it's okay for people not to hear your opinions. It doesn't take away from your independence or free speech just to remain silent and let people talk and say what they have to say. Let them. Maybe they'll be more willing to listen to you when the times comes.
