What Does It Really Mean to Be Kind?

By February 8, 2013

Follow me on:

Kindness is one of those buzz words that people talk a lot about these days, but I wanted to examine more of what it means. Does it mean to be nice? To get along with people?

To me, kindness is a fluid feeling combined with a positive act. The way you act kind to one person may be different than what you do for someone else. For example, perhaps being kind to one friend means that let them vent. You just sit back and listen. For someone else, perhaps you offer to babysit in a pinch for a friend, or pick up a few things at the store for them.

I think in order to really be kind to our friends, we need to get to know them and anticipate their needs. We need to understand their world and where they are coming from. For more inspiration, I've got some quotes and more thoughts on kindness.
