I caught the latest issue (July/August/September) of Somerset Life (buy direct), and I was blown away by some of the ideas on gifts to make for an art friend. Many of you ask me for gift ideas, and if you're searching for some unique ones, Somerset Life is a wonderful read. I love pouring over the magazine and as I see the craft projects, my mind just spins with possible things to make for people.

Don't be intimidated by projects if you're not usually a crafter. You'd be surprised at how easy it is do some of these. Often, just a few crafty touches can make a gift really stand out and become something a friend finds meaningful for many years. Wouldn't it be lovely to have your gift be the thing they go back to throughout the years?
The magazine mentioned one thing that can really make a gift stand out: presentation. That includes wrapping or even making a special envelope for a note.
I'll admit, I'm usually really bad at wrapping. I tend to put the gift in tissue paper and then just throw it in a gift bag! I figure, what's the difference because they are just going to unwrap it and throw the wrapping away, but after reading Somerset Life I can see that a good presentation can make the gift that much more memorable.
