I was reading some information on the Mayo Clinic website about friendships that really stuck with me. It talked about the benefits of having friends, and said that they can:
- "Increase your sense of belonging and purpose
- Boost your happiness
- Reduce stress
- Improve your self-worth
- Help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness, job loss or the death of a loved one"
So true. Friends have helped me tremendously in my life, and I know many of you feel the same way. Friends don't just help with your emotional health, they help you be physically healthy, too.
If you don't have friends right now, or, you don't have enough people in your life you feel close to, don't give up. It takes some time to change or grow your social circle, but you can do it. What's most important is that the effort you put in to finding new friends is definitely worth it.
